I attended a wedding here early in the summer and it was a beautiful venue for a reception. With its high ceilings and its second story bird’s eye view of the Strand, it was a great place to hold a party from my guest’s perspective.
The Roof Garden is a beautiful building on Galveston’s historic district main drag. Upon entering the main doors, you’re swept upstairs to the venue space by a set of dark wooden stairs (though an elevator is available for those with limited mobility). The bride placed her wedding portrait and guestbook at the foot of the staircase, which was a perfect greeting into the space. Upstairs you can either stay inside in the cool of the air conditioning or venture out onto the second-floor patio and watch the waves of tourists going by. I could see this being a fantastic locale for a Mardi Gras party, as the parade passes right in front of the building.
According to their website, chairs and tables are included in the price of rental, and they can provide a bar area for outdoors (which we all heartily took advantage of!) Since it’s right on the Strand, street parking is hit or miss but there is an event lot for $5 across the street. I was lucky enough to snag a spot on the street almost right away, but other guests weren’t as lucky and opted for the paid lot instead.
The Roof Garden provided a memorable reception space in which to celebrate a beautiful couple, and it’s definitely a venue I’ll keep in mind if I’m ever advising someone planning a Galveston wedding.Read More
