How to Prepare for Wedding Day Emergencies

The best wedding planning comes from the ideal of prevention. If you are prepared you can avoid little pitfalls that can happen on your wonderful day. Just as you would have an emergency first-aid kit for camping, you should have one for your wedding. Many unforeseen things can happen as the most important day of your life arrives. There are things you can pack in your emergency wedding kit that most certainly will come in handy.

Preparing a small kit for wedding day emergencies

If you are planning a large wedding this kit can be a lifesaver. You want everything to be perfect and this is one way to ensure perfection. Remember it is always the little things in life and this is the same perspective.

Your kit should contain everything you can think of and it should be organized as well. Digging for things during a small emergency is not how a wedding should go. Here is a list of simple things you need to fill your “first-aid” wedding kit:

  • Band-Aids
  • Ibuprofen or Tylenol
  • Pins and bobby pins
  • Mints and gum
  • Bottles of water
  • Needle and thread, preferably black and white colored threads or a neutral tone for bridesmaid gowns.
  • Safety pins
  • Smelling salts
  • Dramamine and antacids
  • Soda water and a small salt shaker
  • Talcum powder
  • Body spray for episodes of sweating, preferably a vanilla for both male and female
  • Liquid Benadryl and cough drops
  • Tissues and handkerchiefs
  • Paper towels
  • Ladies feminine products
  • Snacks
  • Super glue
  • Nail file
  • Spot stain remover
  • Baby wipes
  • Double stick tape
  • Straws
  • Eye drops
  • Touch up make up kit

These are all perfectly inexpensive and you can bring most of them from home. For example, the Tylenol and Ibuprofen can be packed in a small medicine bottle with Tums and Dramamine, or you can purchase a small sewing kit that will fit right in with your first aid items. These items can also be purchased in your local store.

Extra tips that might help you avoid those little emergencies

Your make up should be non-transferrable, which is easily available. Granted, you probably have a favorite make up you use, but for this day hugs and kisses will smudge your make up and you want to be picture perfect in every shot. You can also get lipsticks that are non-transferrable. If you want your lips to be soft, as they can become dry from the post-wedding activities, you can use a gloss on top that will seal the lipstick.

Your wedding party can also bring their own emergency kits, including a change of undergarments and things they might need. Be certain to remind them to bring medicines if they have certain medical needs. If need be, you can purchase over the counter drugs that soothe nerves for the nervous people in your wedding party. Also, be certain to bring baby wipes since this is one of the best tools for just about anything, ranging from shoe scuffs to spills on dresses and suits.

These are all great tips to use when encountering tiny emergencies. It makes sense that if something can happen, it probably will. Being over-prepared for your wedding is the best advice experience can give.
