Fun Suggestions for Your Wedding Hashtag

Do you want your wedding guests to share their photographs of your big day? Here are a few suggestions how you can ensure they enjoy doing so with very little effort…and lots of fun. Hashtag it!

You are probably already savvy, but for those who might not know what a hashtag actually is, from Wikipedia, “A hashtag is a type of label or metadata tag used on social network and microblogging services which makes it easier for users to find messages with a specific theme or content. Users create and use hashtags by placing the hash character (or number sign) # in front of a word or unspaced phrase, either in the main text of a message or at the end. Searching for that hashtag will then present each message that has been tagged with it.”

Need help? Here is a great article titled  “What is a Hashtag”.

Creative ways for showcasing wedding hashtags:

Include in your save-the-date cards hashtags for your wedding to alert your friends and family to share the special moments they capture in pictures.

Whether you choose to have individual programs recognizing your wedding party or choose the option of one display, this is a great place to exhibit your wedding hashtag(s).

Giving directions to your ceremony and reception with clever or elegant signage? This is an excellent opportunity to present your hashtags. Guests don’t ignore your navigation signs, and they’ll see your hashtags, too!

Whether you feature an open bar, signature drink, or punch, this location is an op that cannot be ignored. Let a chalk-written slate or large engraved card remind your guests how to tag your photos.

Display your hashtag with your joint monogram in a visible place at the reception. Of course, this must be a seamless blend with your theme and decorations, but a lot of fun designing the same.

Save your guests’ time and irritation—and you money—by providing Drink Cards to let servers know not to remove their glasses of merriment while they are dancing. Your guests will love these little favors, and you can include your hashtags on the card along with the message, “I’m dancing. Please don’t take my drink.” Think creative and have fun designing these drink cards.

The perfect spot to include your tag is the menu. Feed them and they will come interprets to “What is on offer?” and your hashtag is right there for them to devour.

Place small cards on the table at each place setting at the reception. Like the drink cards, these reminders will be well received and remembered. Add a line saying, “Take me home. We love photos.”

If you are offering a photo booth to your guests, include a reminder here for them to share their delightful images.

Including your hashtag on your table numbers will ensure that it is on display all night and draw attention to your desire for sharing.

Offer a welcome sign complete with your hashtag. It is the first thing your guests will see at the reception, send a warm message, and jog their memory on the hashtag.

A very clever and appreciated way to let your guests know immediately that you’ll be using a hashtag at your wedding is to give them Welcome Bags featuring those tags. Make a special effort to apprise them of your wish to receive their photos from all of your events.

Lovely bride and handsome groom, have the happiest of days!
